Peer-review policy

The journal “Political Science and Security Studies Journal” adheres to international standards of publication ethics in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo scholarly peer review.

Purpose of Peer Review

The purpose of peer review is to improve the quality of scientific articles published in the journal through independent evaluation by highly qualified experts in the relevant field.

Peer Review Procedure

The Editor-in-Chief preliminarily assesses whether the manuscript corresponds to the journal’s scope, thematic areas, and formatting requirements. If necessary, the manuscript may be returned to the author for revision.

After the initial editorial screening, the manuscript is sent for review to experts whose scientific specialization is most closely related to the topic of the article.

The peer review procedure is anonymous for both reviewers and authors and is conducted by two independent reviewers according to the double-blind peer review model.

Manuscript Evaluation Criteria

During peer review, each manuscript is assessed according to the following criteria:

  • compliance with ethical standards;
  • originality of the manuscript;
  • relevance and scientific novelty of the research;
  • correspondence between the article content and the topic stated in the title;
  • correspondence between the article content and the journal’s thematic areas;
  • compliance of the manuscript with the scientific level of the journal;
  • linguistic and stylistic quality of the text;
  • significance of the information presented;
  • clarity and comprehensibility of the text;
  • appropriateness of the research methods used;
  • correctness of the interpretation of results;
  • substantiation of the conclusions;
  • sufficiency and relevance of the sources provided by the authors.

Review Timeline

The typical period required for peer review is 3–4 weeks. This timeframe may vary depending on the complexity of the manuscript, reviewer availability, and the specific requirements of the editorial process.

Reviewer’s Report

The reviewer’s report is prepared using the form proposed by the journal. It should include the reviewer’s affiliation, position, academic degree, academic title, and the date of review completion.

The reviewer provides a reasoned assessment of the manuscript and one of the editorial recommendations: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject.
