Terms of Publication

The journal “Political Science and Security Studies Journal” publishes scholarly articles in the fields of political science, security studies, defense policy, international relations, geopolitics, public administration, and interdisciplinary security research.

Scientific Scope of Publications

The journal considers manuscripts that correspond to its aims and scope and address relevant theoretical, empirical, methodological, or policy-oriented issues in political and security studies.

  • societal resilience, crisis governance, and democratic stability.

Scientific Orientation of Manuscripts

The journal accepts manuscripts that:

  • correspond to the journal’s thematic scope;
  • present a clearly formulated research problem;
  • contain a well-grounded methodology;
  • are based on modern qualitative, quantitative, comparative, or interdisciplinary research methods;
  • demonstrate scientific novelty and relevance;
  • provide reliable, logically substantiated, and reproducible results;
  • have theoretical, methodological, empirical, or practical significance.

The journal supports interdisciplinary research that contributes to a comprehensive understanding of political processes, security challenges, defense transformation, international cooperation, and contemporary risks to national, regional, and global security.

Manuscript Submission Procedure

Changes to the author list after submission to the Editorial Office are not permitted, except in justified cases and with the written consent of all authors.

  • Format the article according to the journal’s General Requirements for Manuscript Preparation.
  • Submit files in .doc or .docx format via the journal’s submission system or by e-mail.
  • Attach a separate file with author details: full names, official institutional affiliations and postal addresses, contact phone numbers, e-mail addresses, academic degrees, academic titles, and positions.
  • Include the ORCID of each author. ORCID can be created at orcid.org.
  • Recommended file names should correspond to the first author’s surname, for example: Ivanov_Article.docx, Ivanov_AuthorData.docx.
  • The date of manuscript receipt is the date on which it is received by the Editorial Office.

Author Responsibilities

By submitting a manuscript, the author confirms that:

  • the manuscript is original and has not been published previously;
  • the manuscript is not under consideration by another journal;
  • all sources, data, and borrowed materials are properly cited;
  • all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript;
  • all conflicts of interest have been disclosed;
  • the manuscript complies with the journal’s publication ethics, plagiarism, open data, and peer review policies.

Editorial Screening

All submitted manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening for compliance with the journal’s aims and scope, formatting requirements, originality standards, ethical principles, and academic quality.

If a submission does not comply with these requirements, the Editorial Office reserves the right not to consider the manuscript and will notify the authors accordingly.

Peer Review and Editorial Decision

Manuscripts that successfully pass initial editorial screening are sent for scholarly peer review. The journal applies a double-blind peer review model.

The final decision on publication is made by the Editorial Board, with the participation of the Editor-in-Chief or Deputy Editor-in-Chief, based on reviewers’ recommendations, academic quality, originality, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Open Data and Research Transparency

The journal supports the principles of Open Science and FAIR Data. Authors of empirical, computational, or data-driven studies should provide a Data Availability Statement and, where possible, ensure access to the datasets used or generated during the research.
